My name is Somphors. I was born in Kampong Speu province, Cambodia. I have two brothers. I am the youngest. Currently, I am learning in the Liger Leadership Academy. I have a strong passion in science. I like to play soccer and basketball. When I have free time I like to read books and play chess. My favorite book is The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton. My life goal is to gain more knowledge and unlock all of my potential to change Cambodia as well as the world.
Exploring, debating, and making jokes are some of the qualities that encompass my unique personality. Despite getting good grades in science, I am also infatuated with the subject. I feel happy and excited whenever I explore or discover new ideas in science. One of the best moments of my life was when I stayed on an island for a few days and conducted studies about algae farming. Science is a part of my identity, but science without exploring, is not for me.
My friends always making fun of my lanky body, but that doesn’t stop me from being a good athlete. I am a competitive person. I love winning especially in conflict or debate. I am very serious when it comes to debate. I have participated in four different Model United Nation events, and one time I was nominated as most likely to be famous and the most likely to be the next Secretary General.
My friends are very special to me, and I believe that bringing them happiness by making them laugh is the best way to strengthen our bond. I love making my friends laugh. Their happiness is also my happiness. I also believe that everyone deserves a smile. A quote I appreciate is “Life is short. Time is fast. No replay. No rewind. So enjoy every moment as it comes.”
